Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye | Col de Vars | Musée de la Moto (Motorcycle Museum)

Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye is actually a small, unremarkable place on the south side of the Col de Vars, not far from the Italian border. But: it is an extremely nice place that simply invites you to take a break. In the village centre, there is a small café with good and affordable products. There are also two hotels, a restaurant, a campsite, a very old church and, in particular, the Musée de la Moto with around 70 restored motorcycles from many decades.

Saint-Paul is located at the many sources of the Ubaye, which later partly fills the large reservoir Lac de Serre-Poncon.

The church is also unremarkable, perhaps just modest, but is also worth seeing. It dates from the 15th century, was destroyed in the religious wars and rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century.

The three listed altars with their wooden altarpieces, which are partially painted or gilded, are noteworthy. One altar even has a very rare antependium made of painted linen from the 17th century.

Tip: Stop, take a short break and visit the museum and church...
